Power

Why is it such an addictive beast? Why don't the people who have had a taste of it leave some for the rest? Why is it that people who are in power think it is their right because they fought for it? Why do they imply that they are the only ones capable of running a state or country?
We have all watched and heard the news about the ongoing civil wars in Libya, Syria, and other Arab nations. Since this is happening at our backdoor...
Most African leaders came into power through a revolution and have ruled their countries for more than 30 years. After all those years in power, you would think most of them would willingly vacate the seats at the sight of discontentment from the citizens before small riots turn into full-fledged wars  since they don't want to change their policies.
The standard and cost of living have increased over the past few years and so has the gap between the rich and poor. All these factors coupled with unemployment and poor education facilities have heightened discontentment within the African citizens.  These are the leading cause of riots which later turn into wars due to failure to change by the African leaders. Why settle for less when you can take action and have your demands met?
In all the years and decades of rule, I'm sure they have more than the country's wealth stashed away in personal overseas bank accounts. It'd be logical for someone to leave and enjoy all his ill gotten wealth in comfort without being forcefully removed through a war because then; their personal wealth is put under scrutiny and is later confiscated and the overseas accounts frozen.
I had a debate with one of my friend's friend on Facebook over the recent Egyptian war. His argument was, 'insomuch as the Egyptians wanted change, history would repeat itself', implying that whoever got to rule after Hosni Mubarak, he would continue where Mubarak left off, instead of making his history. Thus, being a waste of time and resources.
However much history would repeat itself in the hands of someone else? The Egyptians needed change and it was their right that was my argument. 'History does repeat itself because people refuse to learn from other people's mistakes'. Not all of us make the same mistakes, so what if the new ruler makes the same mistakes? It is his right and also the people to have someone who might meet all their demands with good leadership because its through these mistakes that we learn the most valuable lessons.
It is said, 'Power turns heroes into ruin', which is an apt statement for all the wars happening right now. Why not leave gracefully with your dignity and money in tact instead of leaving forcefully with nothing to fall back on? Isn't that the most logical choice?
As Kanye West put it, 'No one man should have all that power. The clock’s ticking, I just count the hours.'

Obsession?

Song IL Gook
I don't know what it is but it might be a little obsession because; what do you call a person who watches subtitled Korean War dramatic TV series?
The difference with these series is that they happen to be made according to their country's history, no far-fetched fetched stories or total fiction (maybe the fight scenes) apart from the way they adapt their history for television and probably the way they write the story to make it be popular. And there is none of those weak, fearful lead actresses. The women in these have a cause other than fight and pine away for the guy! No manipulation and deceit etc.
I love them because they are so refreshingly different from the series and telenovelas that we are subjected to by the television stations and networks. They are not entirely war dramas or action there's a bit of good romance here and there (if you appreciate good love) within the story. I realized that their twist to romance and love is actually realistic, which is a good thing because; life isn't about fairy-tales and fantasies nor is it about finding your one true love, then going on to battle for his love. The couple happens to have a theme song!
So, there is this male actor called Song IL Gook, he is probably the Korean version of Brad Pitt, because he is in everything I've watched so far. I had to go to Wikipedia to learn more about him of course (where would we be without these search engines?) and the synapses of the series, he only takes on roles that have physical activities i.e. martial arts etc. I also learnt that Korean actors are one the most highly paid actors in the world aside from Hollywood actors.

Self Education

There is this website I found about further learning that is totally free of tuition fees. How great is that?
I want to learn a few more things before I throw in the Academic towel. It’s a self education kind of thing so I got to teach myself.

I wonder if I'll be able to commit to that because it probably needs a steady internet connection which I rarely have; I usually subscribe for a week or two to update my laptop's anti-virus and the blog. But if you want something, a little more effort must be used. Will have to see how it goes, the requirements, etc.

Aside from the website for further learning, I've been teaching myself a programming language that I wasn't able to master at school.  It is going to help me during the designing and probably running stages of my website, so I want my skills and knowledge to be very up to date. I should have been done with it by now but since I only study on weekends when I don't have plans, it has taken me longer. I have to see it through because it is a personal goal of mine and for some reason; it seems easier to grasp something taught by you than when taught by a teacher, tutor…very odd?

I realized that it was a 'Website finding' day because I came across one that might help with my need to learn French!!...Isn't that awesome?
This is the one language that I find so fascinating and wanted to muster since high school for so many reasons but I am learning it because; it is the language of LOVE! And it sounds so romantic when I hear the French speak it with their accents.

If you feel the need to learn something for one reason or other, I say go for it. It doesn't matter how long it takes you long as you like it.

Black Rose

She smiles, I smile
She walks, No she glides softly by me changing night into day
She opens her mouth to speak, and so sounds ring in my head
She speaks, and I want to dance to her rhythm
She moves ever so gently, increasing my desires,
As I place my arms around her waist, Hold and squeeze unto me, I want to melt into her body, and discover the base of her warmth
Her beautiful black body that, no human mind could ever conceive
She's love She's truth She's real, as real as the stars that shine in the heavens
As real as the sun that bathes her body, As real as the moon that glows and the birds that sing and the rose
That blossoms in spring for she is that rose
And not just any rose,But a black rose, Black rose stands tall and stronger than any other plant
A black rose, that stands as creator, of nations of Black rose
That never loses her petals, and blossoms all year round
Black rose,
Sweet rose,
Thorn less rose
Eternal rose
Please look my way,
Please look my way
Please look my way
Black rose

Ps: A friend of mine wrote this and I liked it. Decided to share it.
