Obsession: The Fat Doctor.

Most of you know I am a certified TV addict who watches anything and everything.
Currently, I am obsessed with the TV show The Fat Doctor. It is about a certain Doctor at a hospital who gives hope and gastric bypass surgery (cut their stomach to the size of an egg) to the morbidly obese. I found out that now Britain has the largest number of morbidly obese patients and that the number of people who have had this surgery done rose from 600 a year to 100,000. Last time I knew, America had the largest number of morbidly obese citizens with Alabama being the fattest state in America.
It is typically not something I would watch but the stories told by the patients, the state of their health and appearance as they go about their day to day lives is touching. The surprising bit about the show are the different reasons as to why the patients are morbidly obese with each episode – Early puberty, loss, divorce, genetics, environment, depression etc. I find them all valid and beyond questionable doubt because it doesn’t take much to put on the kilos.
Watching the show has made me realise how much their countries and supermarkets are enablers. Not only do they sell supersized food and drinks; in the supermarkets, there are electronic shopping carts for the obese to sit on while they shop to prevent any medical issues like shortness of breath. And of course the really healthy food is more expensive than junk food.
There was an episode of Wendy Williams (addicted to her show) I watched in relation to obesity and she talked about how the mayor of New York or New Jersey (don’t remember) had passed a ban on the supersized cola cups from fast food and beverage centres. I thought it a good way on the control of the high rise in obesity which according to a study, half of America is at risk by 2030.
The show itself is an eye opener. It shows you where you don't want to find yourself in a few years unnecessarily.

Ps: Beware of factual errors since I am not a medical practitioner and contrary to the cartoon above, the Doctor on the show is certainly not fat.

Forever Friends.

I have been cleaning out my yahoo mailbox and I loved finding this forwarded email from one of my good friends. Seeing and reading it again made me miss her so much. As you all know by now, I love sharing a few good things and this is one of them.
To all my friends

A friend is...

Someone who changes your life by being a part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;
Someone who makes you believe that there is really good in this world.
Someone who convinces you that there is
an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.
This is Forever Friendship.
When you're down, and the world seems dark and empty,
your Forever Friend lifts you up in spirit
and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full.
Your Forever Friend gets you through the hard times,
and the sad times, and the confused times.
If you turn and walk away your Forever Friend follows.
If you lose your way, your Forever Friend guides you and cheers you on.
Your Forever Friend holds your hand
and tells you that everything is going to be a-okay.
And when you find such a Friend, you'll feel happy and complete,
because you need not worry.
You Have A "Forever Friend" For Life
and Forever has No end.

Thanks And Regards,
Srujana Shree.......

Busy Little Bee.

Lately, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands, enough to turn into one busy little bee. Aside from maintaining a facebook page, making tracks in my French lessons and doing my damnest to follow what’s going on with fashion week in the comfort of my room, sofa and telly. I have had a little time to return to my DIY box of knickknacks.
I did some of it in between all that and bouts of boredom especially when most of the Fashion week shows were on repeat! I usually tweet these pictures of how I  spend my time and I thought, 'why not share them here so you could all see what I get up to when bored?’ I still maintain that in another world or life, I would be a jewellery designer. Jewellery is my poison. Give me something good and I will love you for life! If not, I will at least remember you by it whenever I wear it.

Materials for the chains are from my mum's stuff.
September has come to an end and I am glad for it. I felt a little bit overwhelmed because it is fashion month. I had to be a little more attentive this time round for the other blog. Actually paying attention has made me realise a few things and also learn from it. I’ve realised that if you like what you do be it profitable or not, you try your hardest to be good at it, nurture it and make it into something to be proud of. You learn a few things along the way- things which enable growth especially where creativity is concerned. I also know now that what I did before was just a drop in the well!

I love the braided ones on the left. and the right, big beaded bracelet.
Most of my friends would check on me and ask how I was and I’d tell them I felt overwhelmed. I wouldn’t go into details because some of them would not get it. With the end of September comes the end of Fashion Week and month! I am quite looking forward to returning to my French lessons which I had to put off. I am making progress and surely proud of it. If you could know the dream for these French lessons, you would laugh. LOL! I tell a few people in an offhanded way to make it seem like a joke and something I am playing at – honestly, the French is something I would like to see bear fruit. Yes! InshaAllah.

Kingdom Of The Wind + Queen Seondoek

I am surprised the post about one of my favorite Soundtracks to a Korean drama is doing well. Either people are watching this particular drama or love the song. Seeing how popular the post is, it reminded me of my love for them. I still watch and have watched three more since. I loved two of them and not all.

Kingdom of the wind. The memories of watching this one bring a smile to my face. I saw the sweetest yet sad lovestory. It’s about two childhood best friends who fall in love with the same woman and as they grow up, their paths keep on crossing and not in a good way. One is the future King and the other a mercenary who made it his mission to try and destroy his friend’s life because of reciprocated love. All this is set with the backdrop of kingdom struggles, wars and et al. I loved the soundtrack to this too. In fact I have it as my alarm tone.

Kingdom of the wind.
Queen Seondoek. The first I have seen with a female lead. I guess it has to do with the fact that it is based on their only female ruler. The drama, storyline and action in this series was indescribable. The control for power between the protagonist and antagonist is dramatic to watch in itself. As one woman struggles to maintain her behind the scenes hold on the kingdom, the other fights to take her place as its rightful and first Queen. The story is really intense to watch in most episodes. The introduction of Bidam’s character who was funny, lazy with quick sharp martial arts skills helped give it a comedic, light hearted touch which I think was a good idea. Sad in its own way but very good to watch.

Queen Seondeok
I haven’t been able to watch any since Queen Seondoek because the station that televised them is on a hiatus. I don’t even know why! My Wednesday-Friday nights were guaranteed Korean drama addiction fix with the Saturday omnibus as an encore which I took full advantage of. I keep checking the channel and even sent the station an email to no avail.
It sucks major balls!

And this is the soundtrack to Kingdom of the wind. I hope you love it.
