Kingdom Of The Wind + Queen Seondoek

I am surprised the post about one of my favorite Soundtracks to a Korean drama is doing well. Either people are watching this particular drama or love the song. Seeing how popular the post is, it reminded me of my love for them. I still watch and have watched three more since. I loved two of them and not all.

Kingdom of the wind. The memories of watching this one bring a smile to my face. I saw the sweetest yet sad lovestory. It’s about two childhood best friends who fall in love with the same woman and as they grow up, their paths keep on crossing and not in a good way. One is the future King and the other a mercenary who made it his mission to try and destroy his friend’s life because of reciprocated love. All this is set with the backdrop of kingdom struggles, wars and et al. I loved the soundtrack to this too. In fact I have it as my alarm tone.

Kingdom of the wind.
Queen Seondoek. The first I have seen with a female lead. I guess it has to do with the fact that it is based on their only female ruler. The drama, storyline and action in this series was indescribable. The control for power between the protagonist and antagonist is dramatic to watch in itself. As one woman struggles to maintain her behind the scenes hold on the kingdom, the other fights to take her place as its rightful and first Queen. The story is really intense to watch in most episodes. The introduction of Bidam’s character who was funny, lazy with quick sharp martial arts skills helped give it a comedic, light hearted touch which I think was a good idea. Sad in its own way but very good to watch.

Queen Seondeok
I haven’t been able to watch any since Queen Seondoek because the station that televised them is on a hiatus. I don’t even know why! My Wednesday-Friday nights were guaranteed Korean drama addiction fix with the Saturday omnibus as an encore which I took full advantage of. I keep checking the channel and even sent the station an email to no avail.
It sucks major balls!

And this is the soundtrack to Kingdom of the wind. I hope you love it.

One Of My Favourite Songs.

Jang Hyuk
As you all know, I am super obsessed with Korean dramas. Recently, I watched one called The Slave Hunters where a royal turns rogue to hunt down escapee slaves and return them to their masters because the brother to the slave girl he loved killed his family, tried to kill him too and ran away with his sister. The siblings were slaves to the Prince’s family and being in love with a slave was forbidden.
It is one of the most heart-breaking, sad Korean dramas I have seen so far from beginning to end. The story line is simply delicious and the action is bad ass. It has the best fight sequences I have witnessed so far in a drama series.
I have to say, I am utterly in love with the sound track to this drama series. It is as sad as the drama with the most beautiful words you’d like to hear. The soundtrack is purely in Korean but thanks to You-Tube and subscribers who have the time to translate, it is easy to know what the song is all about.
I check out the video to the official soundtrack every time I go to you-tube. So I am sharing it with you.

Obsession?

Song IL Gook
I don't know what it is but it might be a little obsession because; what do you call a person who watches subtitled Korean War dramatic TV series?
The difference with these series is that they happen to be made according to their country's history, no far-fetched fetched stories or total fiction (maybe the fight scenes) apart from the way they adapt their history for television and probably the way they write the story to make it be popular. And there is none of those weak, fearful lead actresses. The women in these have a cause other than fight and pine away for the guy! No manipulation and deceit etc.
I love them because they are so refreshingly different from the series and telenovelas that we are subjected to by the television stations and networks. They are not entirely war dramas or action there's a bit of good romance here and there (if you appreciate good love) within the story. I realized that their twist to romance and love is actually realistic, which is a good thing because; life isn't about fairy-tales and fantasies nor is it about finding your one true love, then going on to battle for his love. The couple happens to have a theme song!
So, there is this male actor called Song IL Gook, he is probably the Korean version of Brad Pitt, because he is in everything I've watched so far. I had to go to Wikipedia to learn more about him of course (where would we be without these search engines?) and the synapses of the series, he only takes on roles that have physical activities i.e. martial arts etc. I also learnt that Korean actors are one the most highly paid actors in the world aside from Hollywood actors.
