Dusty Purple.

It’s been awhile since I did a post on the state of my nails. The reason is I use the Avon Midnight Plum whenever I decide to because I love the colour and I did a post about it here. Hard as it may be to believe or not, I have one nail polish in my life at the moment and that’s it.
I recently borrowed my mother’s nail polish this time round to try on. I thought it was a dirty brown cause of how it looked in the bottle but on application, it turned out to be a dusty purple. I spent an entire day ruminating over this until I finally had my suspicions confirmed by Google.

It looks like a very dark brown in the dark and a very dirty purple during day. It is such an odd colour though, something only an experimenter or curious soul like myself would wear. I recommend it to those with a light complexion because it really brings it out. The contrast in the dark is really something.

Tip: The trendy nail colours at the moment are nude, mint and blue.

Popping Orange.

The day I got it
To catch up on my nail posts, I rocked a solid orange manicure for a few days. I love color, and if it is loud and looks lovely, I would probably wear it on my nails. I hate dark colors.
I know people who wear nail polish all the time but never loud nail colors and I wonder why. I mean, if you can't experiment with color anywhere else, why not start with the nails?
Anyway, I rarely do nail polish because some never last beyond five days. I find myself peeling some of it off when it starts to chip. I think the chipping is what makes me hate getting a full manicures.

Last days of the manicure

Manicure Tip: Always wear white nail polish as a base when trying out loud colors. It makes the color pop.--> I found this out later. I did mine without white as a base.

Wonderfully Metallic.

In the process of getting midnight plum taken off my toes, I decided to get a different manicure after a whole lot of convincing from the manicurist. I was going to leave them as plain as they usually are, so I thought, why not? It doesn’t hurt, right? Unless where the pocket is concerned.
My first choice when it came to choosing colors for the mani was a collection of multicolored sparkles with a clear varnish to top it off. Unfortunately, there were no multicolored sparkles. After perusing through the colors available, I settled on a gold varnish and on a whim an addition of silver sparkles to give it the cheerful look I originally wanted.

Whenever I get creatively inspired, I’m always sceptical and a little scared of how its going to turn out. Gold and Silver together rarely work but dang! I was pleasantly surprised by how metallic my nails turned out. I took a lot of pleasure in showing them off because the entire look was like rays of light filtering through colored broken glass. You know that kind of light around morning hours which makes the dust mites visible? Yeah, that’s the one. And sometimes the silver looks like little crystals on top of my nails.

Everyone that's seen them has been asking how I got it done. Honestly, all it takes is a bit of creativity and knowing what it is you want. Play around with colors and designs, there is nothing much to it. When I have a choice, I never leave the kind of nail polish color or design I want wear on my nails to the manicurists. They are the most uncreative people so far and they do the same design on almost all their clients. I am pretty sure, the person who did mine will suggest my idea to his other clients.

OK, before my head becomes bigger than it already is, what do you think of my creative streak? And what mani are you wearing?

Midnight Plum.

Basing on the little to nonexistent posts on nails, you’re all safe in assuming that I am not a love-my-nails-much-girl. Three of my gurls love their nails, it is their thing. They grow them gorgeously long with the best polish unlike me. Whenever I grow my nails, I realize how dirty they are underneath. I guess this is a complex because even when they are clean, they seem dirty to me and I take forever to ply them with colorful nail polish. So, I keep them short which, I think, suits me well and envy my friends’ for their talons and claws. LOL.

Midnight Plum in the day light
On a spur of the moment, I decided to get myself out of my despair, cheer myself and nails up by giving them the full manicure and pedicure works. I do my own nails, few people touch them because I am very ticklish even my toes which makes the people giving me a mani/pedi and myself very uncomfortable. The fewer touches, the better. I whipped out my bottle of Avon Midnight plum gifted to me by an aunt on a return trip from the UK. I’ve had it for awhile just never been motivated to try it out.

What plums would look like at night

The colour is a dark plum purple akin to aubergine purple without the translucency. It reflects really well in the light especially during day and at night it can pass for black at night but not quite. When you look at it you know it isn’t black. I love how it looks on my nails and the juxtaposition of the light complexion with the dark shade of nail polish is beautiful. My friends always ask me to try dark colors due to my skin tone yet I prefer light, popping ones when it comes to nails. This is a nice trial.
