Happy!

I've written a few posts on my mental space that ended up being lost in transit. I literally have no idea as to where they went on publication because they certainly didn't make it on the blog.
Due to those circumstances, I find myself lost for words. I can't express myself anymore than I should hence the decision to share a drawing from the pages of my journal.
I drew it to help me get back into the swing of things- creatively and on the spur of the moment I added what are probably my resolutions for this year, God Willing.
I may not know a lot at the moment but what I do know deep down is I want to be happy this year.

Anyway, happy new year and may God give us all the courage and strength to see our resolutions to fruition. Ameen.

What Resolutions?!

How unbelievable is it that we’re almost coming to the end of 2012? The year has certainly rushed by so fast I can’t help but wonder where the fire it is trying to catch is at!
When you realize the year is coming to an end, it is inevitable not to think of the resolutions (or not) you made at the beginning. Whether you’ve managed to go through with them or did something that was unexpectedly better? Personally; I don’t remember making any resolutions both unconscious and consciously. In fact nothing comes to mind as I think of the year’s end. I should probably write some down the coming year and hold a review at the end, God willing.
Talking about resolutions and what not reminds me so much of One Tree Hill. I was a fan until the writers lost the plot and messed up the show- Lucas married Peyton, Lucas left etc…and eventually it all went downhill. I remember how Lucas and his bff Hayley used to write down their resolutions (separately) then hid them at the same time behind a loose brick on the wall. At the year’s end, they’d of course go to the loose brick, get out their lists and check off what they accomplished. With the exception of hiding your list behind a loose brick on the wall, don’t you think this is a good idea?
Speaking of ideas. I was browsing through someone’s tumblr and came across a good one to help you take note of the good things that happened or happen during the course of the year. It says, ‘start 2013 off with an empty jar and fill it with notes about good things that happen. On new years eve, empty it and see what awesome stuff happened that year.’
I don’t know about you but for me; when a lot of crap happens during a particular year, I tend to focus on the crap and forget about the good. Doing the jar thing will at least help focus on the good and make you be more appreciative.
So… Do you think you’ve accomplished at least half of what you resolved to at the beginning of 2012 or not?

Resolutions.

Its 11pm and I absolutely can't sleep. A lot is weighing on my mind and I don't know why. The urge to write has completely taken over me and the good thing is, it helps when I write.
The year is coming to an end within a week's time. I look back on some of the resolutions that I made for 2010 and realize that, I accomplished fewer than I had intended/made.
They say a 'resolution' should be an achievable goal that is supposed to improve on your life or being. Something that will bring personal gratification and fulfillment. That we should all resolve to do things that we will be able to accomplish within a specific time frame. Things that we put off due to lack of time or motivation to finish.
I realize that resolutions have no specific time frame that is neither an end nor a beginning; people will still make the same resolution year in and year out hoping to finally fulfill it. If someone doesn't have the desire to accomplish a goal they had set aside for themselves, what's the use in making them at all? Because a goal is supposed to give your life purpose and the vision to achieve it.
Some people don't believe in resolutions. They say, 'why make a plan for myself when God already has plans for me?' I find that totally lacking in zeal/spirit. The desire one has to accomplish their own goals. Goals that will bring personal fulfillment. There is something satisfying about achieving the unattainable.
I find that failure to make plans for oneself shows a total lack of character or weakness within a person. What's wrong with making your plans alongside God's plans for you? Besides, we never know what God has planned for us and it is kind of risky to leave everything to chance, when we all know that God helps those who help themselves.
Starting a blog is something I never believed I would carry off despite my love for writing, neither did I think I'll actually put it out there but, hey, am happy about it and it gives me joy.
However big or small your resolution is for 2011; don't fail to write it down as a goal. You may have the spirit within you to accomplish it and the satisfaction will be beyond your imagination. The feeling you get when you've acquired and achieved everything you ever wanted is the best you'll ever have. Go for it and don't be afraid to make your resolutions no matter what.
